YWCA Kalamazoo is Building Reproductive Justice in our Communities

YWCA Kalamazoo’s annual Stand Against Racism event is all about building connections and moving our communities forward! Join us at the Capital and connect with advocates and decision-makers to advance reproductive justice in your community. Join us for a round table mixer to connect with community members, decision makers, and advocates. Along with the round table mixer, Stand Against Racism will also host a workshop to jumpstart community driven efforts to create reproductive health funds. Stand Against Racism will facilitate connections and inspire action to create communities and a state that is empowering women and eliminating racism!

Round Table Mixer

The Stand Against Racism Round Table Mixer will be an opportunity for decision-makers, advocates, and community members to hear from each other and build connections. The round table mixer will be a loosely structured part of the event where we invite participants to come and go as they please. The mixer will begin at 11:00 am and end at 12:00 pm before the formal workshop begins. RSVP is requested but not required for this portion of the event.

Building Reproductive Health Workshop

The workshop will be a highly structured period where individuals will learn more about reproductive health funds and leave with concrete tools and the next steps to begin similar funds in their own communities. The workshop is open to everyone, however, if you attend the workshop we do ask you to stay for the entire time. The workshop will last 2 hours from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm. The workshop will provide an overview of what reproductive justice is, a look at existing funds, help you develop an understanding of your community, and build skills to successfully advocate for and operate a fund. RSVP is required for this portion of the event.

Stand Against Racism will be held in the Anderson House Office Building. The building can be entered by the doors on the south side of West Ottawa Street or the door on North Capitol Avenue. Please check-in with the front desk and have a photo ID present. The front desk will direct you to the Mackinac Room. Also note you will be required to pass through a metal detector.

Validated parking will be provided by YWCA Kalamazoo at the following city-run ramps:
